Miss us?

The boys have been ravenously working new material from raw clay all summer (in addition to backing Brian's tour dates supporting his solo album, Bedlam Nights) and they're ready to unleash the hounds on the unsuspecting public. Expect bigger riffs, dual vocals, assaulting drums and enough minor thirds to make your skin crawl.

New CT and NYC dates are posted there to the right.

I'll be seeing you at the bar. Gimme Toro, gimme some more.

Alright - where were we now...?

Brian would like to apologize for having to cancel his solo gig last week - he fell ill to some nasty amalgam of Rickets and Mad Cow Disease. HOWEVER, he has reschedule the show for Tue Feb 13th, 8pm at Fat Baby.

He'd also like to let you all know that his album, Bedlam Nights has entered post-production and within no time it should be mixed, mastered and ready to print. Word over at the Exotic headquarters says that we can expect a release date in mid-June.

A video from the 1.24 appearance at Arlene's has been posted - go check it out at YouTube!

And last but certainly not least, a big fan and good friend of the band has been undergoing surgery for a cancerous brain tumor (yes - this is no joke). The medical expenses for further operations and chemotherapy are going to be ridiculously high (they make Manhattan rent look like pocket change) so we're asking all of you to donate what you can to a fundraiser that has been established in his name.

Please go to WhiteStudioNYC.com, click the link for "Ian Robinson Fundraiser" and make a donation. Every little bit helps, trust me.

thanks for your time... now go ask a ninja.

Happy 007, my children - word is bond and James is the man...

The Dags will be climbing out of the basement for a few shows this month with the likes of In Itself, Sneakthief and NCM - check the gig calendar to the right for details. Be sure to make it out to these shows because the boys will be on a bit of a hiatus for February while Ryan and his bride-to-be duck off to Peru (Brian seems rather excited at the notion of having some pink-flake smuggled back into the states and I just don't have the heart to tell him that it will never happen).

Dave is currently gorging himself on a cruise through the carribean and Brian is finishing up his full-length solo record which will be out on Exotic Recordings in the spring. The Rumor Mill over at the local Sewing Circle also claims that a duets project with Meredith of The Saucers is also in the initial planning stages.

We hope you had a lovely New Year's Eve that needed to be mentally reconstructed the following day with the help of a stenographer and several blurry phone-cam shots! We'll see you in a few...

allthafriggenbest!

Alriiiiight!

Club Midway this Thursday (9/28) at 10pm to deliver you more than a handful of the durrty-sexxxy rokk musique. Come on down and let's tear the paint off this motherfucker - show details in the right column.

DoW front-man, Brian Grosz, was just up in Quincy, MA at 51 Lions working on his full-length solo-record and once CMJ comes to a close, the Dags will be entering the studio to work on their own full-length disc. Stay tuned for both to drop in early 2007.

Did you miss Brian's interview on ChannelBlast.com? Never fear, it's been archived. Go to channelblast.com/room1015, click on "Video Vault" and then select the July 6th show. Sure, he's doped to the gills on Sudafed, but it's worth a gander.

We've got some new photos up in the photo area and a live, acoustic version of Apt 3 over at our myspace page.

rokkenfuckinroll!

Well, well, well... It's high time for some news, ain't it?

The boys are back from The Road, a mythical land which involves a lot of drinking, sitting around, and driving for long stretches in a van with no air conditioning. Nevertheless, the Dags ripped every venue between NYC and Daytona Beach a new one. Pictures from the Blessed Unrest Tour are available HERE.

Brian is going to be playing a solo set at NYC's Fat Baby this Thursday night and you all should do your best to get out and show the dirty bastard some support - especially because it's early (8pm) and cheap (five bucks).

And there's been some personell changes in the DoW kennel... All of us would like to thank our man Five for putting his life on hold, piling into the van for the tour and a job well done! We'd also like to welcome our old friend Ryan Dowd into the dirty rokkenroll fray!! That's right: the bassist from the legendary Boston hardcore band, KICKED IN THE HEAD, is going to be stepping up to the plate for the low-end duties. To say the least, Dave is "wicked psyched" that he now has someone else to talk to about his precious Red Sox.

New podcast up from Brian - download it at exoticrecordings.com/podcast

6 MARCH 2006
Tomorrow night has us moist already... It's the CD Release party of our buddies Planeside (even better, Dogs' front-man Brian did the album art). Not only will there be blistering sets from DOW and PSide, but also from The Divide and Fairmont.

Think it can't get any better than that? Think again!

The whole evening is being sponsored by WAV Magazine and hosted by the sinfully sexy Rock n' Dolls.

All the info is right there to the right - top of the gigs column.

Check the whole column, too - we've got some new dates up on the board and you can see that Brian is fast becoming an automated piece of machinery, filling up every available night with a solo/acoustic set. Be sure to show him some support, will ya?

Be sure to check out his latest slab of melancholy, "Remember the Way" at myspace.com/grosz

Also, DOW will be getting spins on Fearless Radio Tues March 7th from 4-6pm CST - tune in online.

Are you one of those cool kids with an iPod and a subscription to Wired? Well then, you're probably already hep to the notion of podcasting. If you don't know what podcasting is, you're not alone (and you're probably not a fucking nerd). But we can tell you that a podcast is like a little radio show you can download at your leisure - an mp3 about news, events, music, etc.

Well, Exotic Recordings has begun a podcasting area where you can hear podcasts from the Exotic Family.

Always the first one to dive in the pool, jump off the bridge and try the new cocktail made with rubbing alcohol - DOW's Brian Grosz was the first one to podcast for the label. Go on and give it a listen.

(And if you're wicked cool and you use a podcast feed-reader, check out feeds.feedburner.com/exotic

Big love to my main shit-stains...

14 FEBRUARY 2006
If it was in my capacity to be giddy - now would be the time.

Ignore the thick Hallmark stench of the day - today also marks the release of the Thumbscrews single which features the Dogs' blistering cover of the Chris Isaak standard Wicked Game as the B-Side. It'll be available for sale online in the near future and it'll be available FREE at upcoming DOW shows. But if you just GOTTA hear it now: check out the eCard that we've put together - dogsofwinter.com/thumscrews. Tell all your friends.

Press is just rolling in, too -

Check out the acoustic version of Spurs from the live WXCI performance at myspace.com/dogsofwinter

Wed night is going to be an exclusive Listening Party and acoustic mini-set at the Exotic Recordings compound. Big ups to Bacardi for sposoring the event.

Fri night, the boys team up with In Itself and Human Vice Patrol at The Maxx in New Milford, CT, for an exclusive ALL AGES SHOW.

Sat night, the Dogs will be out with In Itself again at the infamous Sub Rosa Party in Danbury, CT - a show that will feature the triumphant REUNION SET from BIG TOP LOW.

I want you to want me.

30 JANUARY 2006
Hot holy shit there's a ton of stuff on the horizon for Dogs of Winter.

Super Bowl Sunday, you can hear the charming pipes of Brian in a whole new way: he's the new voice of Full Throttle Energy Drink and rumor has it that the commercial (which is funny as shit) will be the last ad right before kick-off!

Monday Feb 6th from 5-7pm will be a live, acoustic, on-air performance on Danbury CT's WXCI

The "Thumbscrews/Wicked Game" is slated for a Valentine's Day (Feb 14) release, followed by a listening party at the Exotic Recordings loft and an acoustic mini-set from the boys on the 15th.

The March tour has been pushed back to May (Dave is undergoing hormore-therapy for his sex-reassignment) so there's still plenty of time to get the Dogs into your local club or college venue. Hit them up at the booking link down below.

Be well my cuddle-muffins.

14 DECEMBER 2005
Make sure your sweet cherry ass gets to Lit Lounge tonight for the Dogs' last show of 2005! (also appearing, the mighty HVP)

And before you do ANYthing, be sure to check out the "Dogs of Winter" and "Brian Grosz" name-drop in Livingroom Johnston's latest piece for Mass Appeal Magazine - we've got some scans of the mother right here.

Can you smell that shit? That's the scent of Cut Down To The Quick; and the release date is just around the corner. As of next Tuesday the 8th, you'll be able to get your hot and greasy little hands on your very own copy. It'll be available at amazon.com, cdbaby.com and eventually in downloadable chunks at everyone's favorite 99-cent store: iTunes.

The Deli magazine has already called it "ravenous sonic aggression."

RockStarMusicOnline.net calls it "perfect blend of scratchy vocals, dirty guitars and rockin' beats."

What do I call it? The sounds of sexy violence.

And if you live in NJ, look for a photo and article on the Dogs in this week's issue of The Aquarian (or you can check it out online here)

More to come... Stay tuned!

26 SEPTEMBER 2005
Big changes here in the Dogs of Winter campground! Let's get up to speed, shall we?

First off: there's the new website, which your pervy little eye is focused on right now. Pictures, some back-row video footage, links to our pals in rock and our sponsors in rehab, and TWO BRAND NEW TRACKS featured in the player to the left!!!!

That's right, Einstein: Brian and producer/engineer Nic Hard wrapped up the mastering session this afternoon for the debut EP, Cut Down To The Quick. It was mastered by the grammy-winning Scott Hull, a man whom Brian was forbidden to talk with about cars or Steely Dan. The artwork is 98% complete and things should be off to the duplication house before the first of October. Expect that Nov 9th show at Arlene's Grocery to turn into a record-release party.

The guys are pleased to announce that the album will be released on Exotic Recordings who have taken in these stray lads and let them lie by the fire.

And for those of you in the CT-region, DoW will be playing at the FESTIVUS at the Green Room in Bridgeport. Planeside are also scheduled to appear amongst a day and evening's worth of other guests.

And if you have a website or a blog and would like to help support DoW, check out the banner ad and instructions at myspace.com/dogsofwinter.

My bar calls me... I must answer to it's wanton cry.

5 SEPTEMBER 2005
Happy Labor Day, you beautiful bastards!

The boys finished up their recording sessions at Bushwick Studio (BKLYN), The Saltmines (BKLYN) and The Ranch Studios (Jewett, NY). They smell terrible, the record sounds outstanding. This week they'll be heading up to The Carriage House in Stamford CT, a studio frequented by such legends as Pantera and Diana Ross. Street date is looking like mid-October.

We'll have some pictures, video and a revamped website up soon. As soon as I find a way to sober and get some sleep, anyway.
~ Skippy Ramirez

27 JULY 2005
You all have really been packing your asses through the door and the booze down your throat for the last couple of shows. The guys love nothing more than to look out upon a full room of screaming, belligerent drunks with shit-eating chesire grins plastered across their faces. Well, actually, they'd probably prefer looking out at the Vivid girls... everything in stride, though.

Here's some shots from last Monday's show at Continental: one, two and three
~ Skippy Ramirez

11 JULY 2005
Dave broke another ride cymbal within three weeks of purchasing it. He refuses to play any softer so we're asking Zildjan for a full endorsement. Brian and Seth are hoping for a joint-venture from Jack Daniels and Playstation.

Tomorrow night's show has the potential to fold the space-time continuum; 4 OUTSTANDING bands on one bill, crammed into the dungeon-like basement of Lit Lounge in Manhattan's East Village. Be there for a proto-orgasmic experience that will cost you a measly 5 bucks.
~ Skippy Ramirez

27 JUNE 2005
The boys played a loft party on Saturday night at which they blew up a bass amp, a fight broke out, the cops arrived and it's rumored that Brian stole two cases of beer from the bar during the incident. This band would be terribly dangerous if they weren't so fucking sexy.

This Thursday they bring the hot, sweaty action to Williamsburg. Please, Hammer, don't hurt 'em.
~ Skippy Ramirez

06 JUNE 2005
As you can see, summer is gearing up for the Dogs of Winter with the gig column posted above. Some shows have open bars, some shows are free, some are with some outstanding other bands. Make sure you get out to see the Dogs in these intimate settings before you're paying $89 to catch them at Continental Airlines Arena.

Now get out there and enjoy the humidity
~ Johnny London

16 MAY 2005
The public debut of the Dogs will commence on Wednesday, May 18th at "Tribute Night" sponsored by Exotic Recordings at the Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT. Dave and Brian will be playing two cover tunes that evening and will be joined onstage by the fabulous Mere and Keef of The Saucers.

Show starts at 9pm. Also schedule to appear: 25th Century Schizoid Rhythms, Lys Guillorn, Monica Attell, Peter Machera, Am Sunshine/Tri State, Larissa De Lorenzo, The Saucers, Tom DiMenna, Ashley Kenney, Darian Cunning and Sketch.

Game on, motherbitches...
~ Dirty Uncle Dingo

28 APRIL 2005
With this fancy redesign comes with absolutely no new content, excluding this little area where I just told you that.

While the search for a bassist and a lead guitarist rages on (it's difficult to find someone who can put up with Dave and Brian's bullshit), Seth Berkowitz of Aaron Hill and the Crimson Guard has agreed to lend his basstacular expertise until a regular member can be located. It appears that the Conquistador/Skabba The Hutt boys go marching on, heterosexual hand in heterosexual hand.

Expect some show dates to be announced soon.

Until next time,
~ Uncle Bastard
